It's perhaps strange that I feel best when being worked rotten. Let's say I'm a metaphorical apple: I've been being squeezed for a few weeks, and now I'm fully oxidized and am being decomposed. But underneath my core, there's a full cup of delicious apple juice. The apple juice is the fruit of my recent labors.
When I'm keeping busy, I gain momentum. Right now, I'm steamrolling through projects, and one begins the other and the ends begin the next process. This is what I love about creativity; ideas feed actions and actions feed ideas, so that you're in a cycle of production. All you have to do is start.
This week I've helped write an opera, begun rehearsing said opera, helped out with a puppet show, gotten in my twelve college applications, written something to submit to OPUS, and (somehow!) had time to goof around with my younger brother every day (it's his "birthweek.") It's been a good week, and because I've been lagging behind slightly in my recent blog work, excluding my daily practice which I'm keeping up with (although I've missed a day or two) I felt it was time that my motivational apple juice poured itself out over the internet.
Gosh, I can really keep a metaphor going over here. Extended metaphor queen, woohoo!
There is nothing in the world that feels better than when you are busy doing things that tap into what you're designed to do. You feel well used, not abused, but well used. The joy of a good hammer driving nails!
