Ilunga (Tshiluba, Congo): a person who is ready to forgive any abuse for the first time, to tolerate it a second time, but never a third time
I read the list of words that do not occur in English, and they were all exceedingly interesting. I love studying and learning new words, and this particular one resonated with me. I'm sure that there are more people who are Ilungas than they would care to admit.
In English, we don't have this term. Therefore, we can't classify a person as such, and therefore they can't stop being one. They don't know that they're one in the first place. Once a person can define themselves as such then the world is opened up to becoming something else.
